Hotel General Manager
We are looking for a Hotel General Manager for a limited service property responsible for overseeing all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring a seamless guest experience, financial profitability, and a motivated team culture. This position requires a proactive leader with a proven ability to manage a hotel property efficiently, maintain brand standards, and exceed guest expectations in the highly competitive hospitality market of Carlsbad, California.
Hotel General Manager Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
• Oversee daily hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and food services
• Ensure compliance with brand standards and operating procedures
• Monitor property maintenance to uphold high standards of cleanliness and functionality
2. Financial Management:
• Develop, implement, and monitor budgets to achieve financial goals
• Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and take proactive measures to improve profitability
• Oversee pricing, revenue management strategies, and inventory to maximize occupancy and ADR
3. Team Leadership:
• Recruit, train, and mentor department heads and staff to deliver exceptional service
• Foster a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement employee development plans
4. Guest Experience:
• Ensure outstanding guest service by monitoring guest feedback, resolving complaints, and exceeding expectations
• Drive a culture of hospitality that aligns with company's commitment to quality and service
5. Sales and Marketing:
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to increase market share in Carlsbad’s tourism and business sectors
• Represent the hotel in the community, developing strong local partnerships and business relationships
• Develop strategies to attract both leisure and business travelers, leveraging Carlsbad’s coastal appeal
Hotel General Manager Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
• 5+ years of progressive hotel management experience, preferably with IHG, Hilton, Marriott or a similar
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Strong knowledge of financial and revenue management principles
• Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Familiarity with hotel property management systems (e.g., Opera, OnQ)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
