Job Summary

We are seeking a Commercial Account Underwriter to analyze information, developments, and trends on new and renewal accounts with premiums up to $25,000 to determine the risks associated with insuring them.

Responsibilities for the Commercial Account Underwriter:

  • Review new business, renewals, endorsements, and quote requests to determine acceptability 
  • Communicate underwriting and marketing philosophy or practices to agents
  • Communicate underwriting decisions, techniques, and interpretation of policy forms and coverages with agents and company personnel
  • Order and/or analyze loss control reports, financial reports, MVRs, and other underwriting reports.
  • Travel independently to visit agencies as necessary
  • Provide ongoing support to Sr. TM and/or middle market underwriter on non-risk selection and pricing decisions.

Qualifications for the Commercial Account Underwriter:

  • One to three years experience in commercial underwriting or completion of commercial lines underwriting training OR Experience, as a commercial lines account manager with some underwriting training
  • Solid understanding of P&C commercial lines products, including GL, BOP, Worker's Comp, etc.
  • College Degree
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organization & time management skills
  • Easily builds and nurtures relationships within the workplace
