Job Summary
The Shredder Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the shredder at a metal recycling facility. This role ensures equipment is maintained, production targets are met, and safety protocols are followed, while leading and motivating a team of operators and technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the shredder, ensuring consistent and efficient processing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust workflow to meet volume, quality, and profitability targets.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and address equipment issues promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments; address any hazards immediately.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to recycling operations.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance and repairs to the shredder and associated equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE RUNNING A SHREDDER - Minimum 5 years of experience in metal recycling or heavy industrial operations, including shredder operations or similar machinery.
- Leadership Skills: Proven supervisory experience in a production or maintenance environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with shredder operations, material processing, and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Safety Focus: Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for team coordination and reporting.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in equipment maintenance or industrial operations preferred.
