Tool Maker
We are seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join our client, a pioneer in the plastics manufacturing injection mold industry supplying technically advanced parts and components. This role is essential to maintaining and enhancing production tooling, involving the design, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of both existing and new tooling. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with CNC machinery, including mills and lathes, and be skilled in programming and operating 3 & 5 axis mills as well as RAM and Wire EDM machines.
Tool Maker Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation from $30 - $40/hr depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform precision work to fabricate, modify, and maintain tooling and molds, ensuring production requirements are met
- Operate and program CNC machinery (mills, lathes) and EDM equipment (RAM and Wire EDM) to produce high-quality tooling components
- Design and fabricate new tooling as needed to meet production needs, using Mastercam and Solidworks
- Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, maintaining tight tolerances and adhering to GD&T standards
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair existing molds and tooling to ensure uninterrupted production flow
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to enhance tooling designs for improved performance and durability
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tool making, preferably within plastics injection molding
- Proficiency in operating and programming CNC mills and lathes, with a focus on 3 & 5 axis mills
- Extensive experience with RAM and Wire EDM programming
- Proficient in Mastercam and SolidWorks for designing and programming tooling
- Strong ability to interpret engineering blueprints, work within tight tolerances, and apply GD&T principles
- Skilled in laser micro-welding, MIG, and TIG welding
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methods for tooling and production processes
- Ability to adapt to changing production requirements and work independently with minimal supervision
