Job Summary
The Aftermarket Service Engineer will provide expert support and specialized services for machinery, plants, and parts for the metal processing and scrap industries across North America. The products include shredders, shears, and balers. This role will closely collaborate with product and project teams on new equipment installations, component upgrades, and commissioning projects.
Aftermarket Service Engineer Compensation and Benefits:

Aftermarket Service Engineer Responsibilities:
- Offer in-depth expertise in maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support for company equipment, addressing technical incidents and specialized service requests
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Document and assess any functional variances observed in equipment performance at customer sites. Deliver on-site technical assistance during installation, start-up, and commissioning stages to ensure safe and accurate assembly of equipment in line with project requirements.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to enhance supplier development and performance on key projects
- Partner with the Sales and After-Sales teams to identify spare parts needs, review technical drawings, and support proposal development
- Attend internal and external meetings to help translate customer requirements into actionable plans
- Work with the After-Sales team to analyze engineering project scopes across multiple disciplines, identifying potential challenges and solutions
- Provide technical expertise through field assessments, engineering support requests, and documentation updates
- Assist Product Management in streamlining and aligning product offerings to standardize service and support
Aftermarket Service Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical support or field service roles
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings; familiarity with electrical and hydraulic diagrams is preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including remote diagnostic capabilities
- Proficient in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (up to 50-60% of the time)
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software
- Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems, such as Salesforce and SAP
- Experience in programming PLCs and HMIs, especially with systems like Siemens S7/TIA or Allen-Bradley
- Background in metal recycling, material handling, or related equipment is a plus
