Risk Manager - Commercial Construction Qualifications:
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in commercial construction risk management (structural steel experience is a plus)
- Deep understanding of insurance renewals, financial exposure due to claims, MOD rates, and budgeting for financial risk mitigation
- Extensive experience in safety audits, inspections, investigations, and site safety paperwork
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 500 510, HAZWOPER to establish safety requirements
- Experience with complex government project compliance requirements
- Degree in Construction Management or related experience
- Excellent skills with MS Office, Dropbox, and Smart Sheets
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Excellent communication skills so everyone understands their responsibilities and why safety standards are needed
- Lead by example
Risk Manager - Commercial Construction Responsibilities:
- On-site office-based role includes managing insurance renewals, determining financial exposure due to claims, calculating MOD rates, and budgeting for financial risk mitigation
- Design/audit policies and procedures to promote environmental, health and safety and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies
- Risk assessment to identify risks associated with site processes and equipment to determine controls needed to keep workers safe
- Training and documentation to ensure workers understand safe work procedures and are competent to safely carry out their assigned tasks
- Investigate accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective action
- Analyze safety audit statistics to identify trends and implement preventive measures to improve company-wide incident metrics
- Identify and predict where problems are likely to arise to initiate mitigation strategies to avoid the problems
- Avoid and calculate company liability and control MOD rate
