Food Manufacturing Industrial Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Food Manufacturing Industrial Engineer with a strong background in Kitchen Management to streamline and improve our food manufacturing processes while leading and managing daily kitchen operations. This role will drive continuous improvement in production efficiency, quality, and safety by combining industrial engineering techniques with practical kitchen management operations. This dual role involves overseeing the engineering and design of manufacturing processes while also ensuring that prep kitchen operations run smoothly, with a focus on quality control, safety, and team management.
Responsibilities
Process Engineering
- Analyze current production processes to identify inefficiencies and design optimized workflows for cost reduction and improved throughput.
- Develop and implement systems for process control, labor utilization, and inventory management.
- Use data analysis and Lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement projects.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and other departments to ensure processes meet food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Document process standards, work instructions, and best practices to maintain consistency and quality. Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards such as HACCP, FSMA, and GMP.
Kitchen Management
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including staff management, training, and scheduling to ensure production targets are met.
- Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and quality standards are upheld in the kitchen.
- Experience working with commercial kettles, decanting, and roasting stations in a production environment is highly preferred
- Manage ingredient sourcing, inventory, and supplies, coordinating closely with procurement and planning teams.
- Train kitchen staff on production efficiency, food safety protocols, and sanitation standards.
- Implement quality control checks and adjust processes as needed to maintain product consistency.
Qualifications
- A degree in Industrial Engineering, Food Science, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- 3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing or production environment, with a blend of industrial engineering and kitchen management expertise.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, including HACCP, FSMA, and GMPs.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast-paced food production setting.
- Proficient with industrial engineering tools, Lean manufacturing techniques, and data analysis.
- Bilingual English/Spanish, a huge plus
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with mathematical proficiency.
