Job Summary
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee kitchen operations, manage staff, and ensure high standards of quality and efficiency during service. This role is ideal for an experienced, hands-on culinary professional with a deep understanding of Italian cuisine and the demands of a high-volume kitchen. As the Sous Chef, you’ll lead by example, maintain consistency in food preparation, and bring creativity to menu development.
Sous Chef Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and consistency during peak service times
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment
- Monitor inventory and manage food ordering and storage, controlling waste and maintaining budgetary goals
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
- Step in to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
Sous Chef Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in an upscale high-volume restaurant setting; Italian cuisine experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and manage a diverse kitchen team
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure
- Knowledge of kitchen cost control, inventory management, and ordering
