Director of Catering Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, inspiring and guiding the team
  • Manage event planning strategies and execution down to the finest detail
  • Work closely with Sales & Marketing, Banquets, and Operations to optimize revenue and ensure seamless event execution
  • Respond to event inquiries and proposals within 24 hours
  • Ensure contract details, including deposits, guest rooms, event spaces, and concessions, are executed correctly
  • Maintain departmental compliance with hotel standards, policies, and procedures
  • Lead and mentor a team of Event Planners, encouraging professional growth
  • Organize and run BEO meetings, and participate in various hotel meetings
  • Represent the property by being active in the local community and industry events

Director of Catering Qualifications:

  • A friendly, professional demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality and guest service
  • At least 4 years of experience in a senior catering or sales leadership role, with a focus on high-volume events exceeding 500 guests
  • Strong listening, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills
  • A positive, creative thinker who is solution-oriented
  • Experience in managing upscale or fine-dining event logistics, including BEOs
  • Familiarity with managing guest room blocks
  • Proven ability to excel in catering and event sales, with a history of positive guest and team engagement and strong financial performance
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs
  • Knowledge of the local market is a plus
  • Experience managing high-end clientele and large-scale events, delivering on and exceeding expectations
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the skill to delegate and provide constructive feedback
  • Proficient in budgeting, analytics, and event planning
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, sales CRM tools, and hotel PMS systems
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the industry
