Chief Professional Engineer
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Chief Structural Engineer to lead our structural engineering team. The Chief Structural Engineer will be responsible for managing the design, analysis, and implementation of structural engineering projects across a range of sectors, including commercial, industrial, and residential developments. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, ensure compliance with industry standards, and oversee the successful execution of projects. This position requires a deep understanding of structural engineering principles, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with architects, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the structural engineering team, providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Oversee the structural design and analysis of buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects
- Review and approve structural calculations, models, and design drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with building codes and regulations
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to develop integrated structural solutions
- Perform detailed assessments of existing structures, providing recommendations for repair, retrofit, or replacement
- Conduct field inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure structural integrity
- Identify potential structural risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Lead the development of technical reports, engineering specifications, and project documentation
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards
- Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering technologies, materials, and best practices
- Manage client relationships, addressing technical inquiries and providing expert consultation
- Assist with budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for structural projects
- Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in structural engineering, including leadership roles
- Expertise in structural analysis and design of various types of structures (e.g., steel, concrete, wood, masonry)
- In-depth knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC)
- Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000)
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
- Experience with construction oversight and field inspections
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
