Job Summary
The General Manager oversees all aspects of the company's landscaping, snow, and ice control operations. This role encompasses managing field operations, coordinating with subcontractors, maintaining customer relationships, driving sales and business development, and ensuring the division operates effectively to achieve profitability goals.
General Manager Responsibilities:
- Supervise the development and assess the effectiveness of all snow route/landscaping operations
- Chair all company snow & "green" operations meetings
- Oversee pre-season/post-season property inspection process across all districts
- Support District and Area Managers in training subcontractors for timely and efficient service at each site
- Contact District Managers to get field staff ready for upcoming storms/Alert District Managers to start plowing operations in their districts
- Facilitate District Managers with equipment allocation and reallocation in case of shortages
- Assist District Managers in coordinating the efficient and timely use of subcontractors
- Conduct monthly meetings with subcontractors and snow production personnel during the peak season
- Ensure all required paperwork from District Managers is submitted to the billing team
- Verify that operations in each district are finished within the projected timeframe
- Conduct site inspections during and after service events to confirm that all scheduled tasks on specific routes are completed effectively
- Achieve customer satisfaction by ensuring the successful execution of landscaping and snow management services
General Manager Requirements:
- 10-15 years in a management capacity
- 5+ years Industry experience in commercial landscaping and/or snow removal
- Experience with Salesforce, ADP, NetSuite
- Servant leader mentality
- Demonstrate strong skills and the ability to analyze and understand financial statements related to landscaping/snow and ice division
- Exhibit proficiency in cost accounting, including budget preparation and financial forecasting
- Ability to perform take-offs and create detailed bid documents based on specifications for control services
- Able to put together a 12-36 month plan of action including sales, finance, and operations
