CNC Machinist
As a CNC Machinist, you will be tasked with setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precise, high-quality parts. Your tooling and machine operation proficiency will be key in ensuring efficient, accurate production that aligns with our quality requirements.
CNC Machinist Responsibilities
- Reviews work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, and orthographic drawings to plan machining operations, including interpreting specifications, reference planes, surface locations, machining parameters, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Monitors stock levels, checks inventory availability, anticipates future needs, and places and expedites orders. Verifies receipt of materials to ensure sufficient stock for operations.
- Programs mills and lathes by inputting instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches. Calculates machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry, and proves part programs.
- Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks (three- and four-jaw), tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. Also, ensures accurate vice positioning and head trimming.
- Operates feed mechanisms by positioning and lifting stock into place.
CNC Machinist Requirements
- GED or High School Diploma
- Understanding of G-Code and M-Code programming
- Experience in setting up and troubleshooting machines
- Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed and continuous improvement.
