Job Description:
Review project site, determine scope of work involved with each particular project, calculate pricing by each phase of job, obtain competitive pricing from any required subcontractors and create the proposal. The Estimator/Project Manager is the first point of contact for project information among all involved parties when bidding both public and private jobs. The ideal candidate must be a self-starting individual with reasoning ability and problem-solving skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a client base.
- Obtain and review bid documents and specifications.
- Review drawings and perform quantity take-offs.
- Prepare detailed estimates using bid software.
- Identify borrow and waste sites.
- Manage bid pricing from vendors.
- Write technical proposals.
- Review bids and proposals with management.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with project partners.
- Maintain files of all bids and take-offs.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- Create and maintain all change orders.
- Assist with project management from inception to completion.
- Communicate project processes, restrictions, and hazards to the Field Operations Manager, Site Supervisor, and Safety Manager.
- Oversee project closeout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:
- 8 to 10 years of experience as an excavation field superintendent, OR
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in excavation estimating, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience bidding on both public and private jobs.
- A 4-year college degree is preferred but not required.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Ability to create effective schedules.
- Ability to communicate professionally with owners, their representatives, and colleagues.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several high-priority projects simultaneously.
