Switchgear Field Service Technician Responsibilities:

- Perform timely and high-quality diagnostics and repairs on electrical power distribution equipment

- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and/or high voltage electrical systems

- Conduct testing and measuring of low, medium, and/or high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers

- Perform inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of all electrical distribution equipment

- Support sales and engineering teams in translating measurements into drawings

- Carry out other installations, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair activities as needed

Switchgear Field Service Technician Requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years' experience operating and working on electrical equipment in the field, including live equipment

- BS in Engineering is a plus

- Solid understanding of electrical codes, particularly NEC and local Chicago codes

- Proficiency in reading and accurately interpreting wiring diagrams, single lines, 3-phase power systems, and switchboard/panel schedules

- Solid understanding of low to high voltage switchgear, cabinets, switchboard enclosures, electricity, and strong problem-solving skills

- MUST be comfortable handling and maintaining live equipment and demonstrate proper safety procedures

- Excellent customer service, time management, and ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional off-hours for emergency customer issues

- Experience in servicing, testing, and maintenance of switchgear is a plus

- Experience with refurbishing electrical distribution equipment is a plus

- Ability to work nights/weekends and travel within the state on occasion
