Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

The Project Estimator is responsible for accurate estimates, analyzing client budgets and specifications, monitoring market trends on how to position organizational outlooks, tracking shipments and project activities to ensure the project is on time and on budget. This position is an integral member of the project management team. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

 

  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for material, labor, equipment, subcontractors. 
  • Analyze written specifications and drawings to perform accurate estimates. 
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation. 
  • Generate project bid status reports to include current and future estimates. 
  • Lead contractual documentation such as preparing quotes, sales agreements, bid forms, P&P bonds, and OCIP/CCIP paperwork. 
  • Collaborate with Customers, Owners, Chef’s, General Contractors, Manufacturers Sales Reps and others to finalize estimates. 
  • Review change orders and obtain management approval. 
  • Build positive relationships with existing and potential customers. 
  • Identify new markets for organizational growth. 
  • Partner with manufacturers and their representatives to order equipment and resolve discrepancies such as missing or incorrect orders ship dates, deliveries, unshipped freight, and returned equipment. 
  • Manage logistics for the shipping and delivery of equipment for inbound, outbound, and offsite; Obtain consolidation quotes and negotiate freight claims when required. 
  • Coordinate and schedule necessary resources such as cranes, forklifts, additional trucking, and temporary labor. 
  • Prepare customer invoicing. 

 QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Education may be substituted with related experience. 

 

Skills: 

 

  • Must have excellent mathematical and analytical skills; 
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam. Autoquotes and Netsuite proficiency is preferred; 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment;  
  • Must be able to work independently while handling multiple priorities and responsibilities;  
  • Must have strong problem-solving, time management, organization, attention to detail and customer service skills;  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required;  

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or feel office or mechanical tools/equipment. It also requires occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and crawling. May occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

 Office hours are from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. May require occasional evening or weekend hours as business needs demand. 

 

TRAVEL  

 This position may require occasional travel to attend training and/or conferences.
